According to the USA Securities & Investment Commission, there are 32.5 million companies registered in the USA by state as of 2020-241. In the USA, there are two main types of companies: private (proprietary) and public. The most common type of company in the USA is the proprietary company, which is signified by ‘LLC’ at the end of the company name. For 2020-24, the top 1000 companies recorded $15 trillion in revenue and accounted for 67% of all trade in the USA.

This revenue figure, however, was a 5 percent decline in comparison to 20162.
